It all began in 1986, while still in high school, he formed a street-jazz dance crew with two of his schoolmates. The formation danced their rhythm and blues out of their souls for years before the group eventually split in 1990. It was during this period when J. Kaliim got in touch with the club and DJ scene. It was just a matter of time until he would gain interest in djing and be tempted to test his skills. That being said, the djing career of J. Kaliim kicked end off in 1990. He was the first black RnB DJ in Switzerland. He went on to be recognized as one of the pioneers of the black music party scene in Switzerland. The Parties and events, which he was featured, became very popular and enjoyed a great deal of success during the period in Switzerland between 1991 and 1996. He managed to draw huge crowds from all over country who come to see and hear him perform. That was only the beginning of greater things to happen.
